I Know What You're Thinking - Blog

I know what you’re thinking. You’ve been doing everything you can, and you’re still on the out-side looking in. The others seem to think you’re invisible. Now let’s take a moment to analyze this. Is it because you spoke too loudly or too softly? We’re you too positive, too negative, did you ride the fence?

I know! You wore the wrong outfit! You were too bold, or weren’t outspoken enough! Perhaps it was the fact that you didn’t go to the party – or maybe it was because you did. You know what? They don’t need a reason. The bottom line is that “they” are everywhere, and the harder you try to fit in, the worse it is.

What if even those that fit in feel this way? The prom queen that’s really miserable trying to keep up her image is having nightmares about paying for college. There’s the executive who got the promotion because he was the only heir to his father’s business, and his father didn’t have a choice. How about the football star who didn’t get in to the school he wanted? His friends did. The scenarios are endless.

It’s not a perfect world, and yet we can only see what we want to see. We don’t walk in other people’s shoes. So here’s the skinny. Unless we know the whole story – which is highly unlikely, we just need to focus on our little piece of the paragraph.

We matter. We are important. We make a difference – all of us. We adjust and we do what we need to do. Let’s give each other a little credit, a little grace and a lot of applause for taking the punches and rising to all the occasions. We’re still here and for those that don’t agree, they can think again.
