The Baker
Laura had owned a small retail business for twenty years when the recession wiped out her business. She spent months sending out resumes to a marketplace that had no room for an older entrepreneur. The rejections were piling up and eventually got to her. She would lay in bed night after night, with her doodle Miley at her side, and look up at the ceiling fan as it slowly turned, and say to herself, "Who am I, what is my purpose?" She was losing hope.
Then one day she walked into her favorite bakery and notice that they were hiring. The bakery staff knew Laura well. When the bakery was not busy, they would always spend time talking about how she would help her grandmother bake, and how much she really enjoyed baking. On that fruitful day, it was the last time she walked into the bakery as a
customer. When the owners realized she was looking for a job, they hired her on the spot.
After several years of working there, the owners decided to retire and offered Laura a sweet deal, and she took over the business. To this day, Laura still runs the business. She loves what she does, has happy employees and customers, and also helps feed those in the community who need the help.
The Baker became a Baker.
It is a new day, what are you going to become?
